MUMBAI (Commodity Online):Chilli futures traded lower Tuesday on the back of higher arrivals from the fresh crop amid subdued domestic demand.
In NCDEX chilli March contract traded at Rs.5978 per quintal, a decline of 1.45% against the previous close.
In the morning session the contract traded at a range of Rs.5946-6296 per quintal. Open interest of the contract is 4770 lots and volume traded is 5320 lots for the time being.
According to a trade source, carryover stocks of chilli are seen at 10000 tonnes, down from 30000 tonnes a year ago.
Increase in daily arrivals due to sharp rise in prices witnessed for the last few days in spot and futures markets limited the gain. High chilli output estimates for the current season amid good acreage may also weigh on the market sentiments.
